California Wetlands
Wetlands are typically home to many bird species and indigenous plant life, considered the most biologically diverse of all ecosystems; wetlands act as a natural water purification and storage system for our coastlines. I began photographing California wetlands a few years ago, I became fascinated by how something that had once been so prevalent could diminish to a scattering of just a few small pockets and enclosed areas. Often these wetlands are the only window left to what had been the natural landscape for thousands of years. Although some communities have made great efforts to protect them, wetlands are still under constant assault by development, pollution, and man’s never-ending encroachment on nature.
